Celebrations, soccer, traveling and finally some surfing!

February seems like it has gone by really fast. It was full of celebrations, soccer, traveling, and finally some surfing!

The first weekend was my mom's birthday! She turned 30 again... hehehe! We celebrated a little and went to breakfast that morning. Even though it was her birthday, my sister Sadie and I went to a girls retreat for my church. The weekend was so much fun because we got to meet new people and spend time with friends while learning about God! My sister and I were privileged enough to speak to the girls there. It was an amazing experience for both of us. When we came home from the weekend, we celebrated even more for my mom's birthday. All in all, a good way to start the month.

The second weekend was a laid back weekend. My sisters and I spent the weekend with my grandparents on my mom's side. We celebrated a few birthdays in my family when we went out to lunch. We got to see my younger cousin when we went to lunch and when she spent the night. That Monday was a day we were out of school, so we celebrated a birthday with my family on my dad's side of the family. It was my cousin William's birthday the next day, so we went to a place called Sky High. It is an indoor trampoline place where there are trampolines even on the walls! We had so much fun celebrating.

The third weekend was a saving grace for me. I traveled to Tybee for my grandparent's 50th anniversary party. While we were there, I got to see my best friend in the whole wide world. We hung out in the morning after I ran 2.5 miles. After that, we went surfing. The waves were small, but they were ridable and fun. The water was about 45 degrees and the air was about 64 degrees with a little wind. The conditions weren't perfect, but that didn't stop us from having a great time surfing. I wasn't even riding on my own board, but I rode the nose and worked on my banks. I had a great time. Later that day, we went to a party for my grandparent's, on my dad's side, 50th Anniversary Party. We all got dressed up, my look was complete with a dress, tights, flats (shoes), and makeup. It was worth dressing up because the venue of the party was fancy schmancy (and everybody else was dressed up). I got to see family that I knew I had and family I didn't even know I had. The, on Sunday afternoon, I went to my school's varsity basketball games to support my friends.

I had a meeting that week with I am Second, a “movement meant to inspire people of all kinds to live for God and for others.” We talked about me speaking to a youth group in Texas this summer. I am so stoked to have this opportunity to speak to both girls and guys at the camp.

On Friday, my best friend in the whole wide world is going to fly in to celebrate my birthday that next day (Saturday, March 1st)! I am so excited to see her again and celebrate my 14th birthday. Also, this year my mom wont be coming home from Africa!

Training this month has started to kick back up. In addition to the training I do every morning, I have started biking and running every afternoon after school. My trainer will start coming every week and she is also helping me with relaxing and my mental game. I am walking my board a whole lot more than I was. Also, I am watching almost all of the broadcasted contests on. I remember that I need to train mentally and physically since I cannot surf every day or every weekend anymore.

February has felt like it has gone by so fast. I finally got to surf again, I got to spend time with family, and I celebrated every weekend! I cannot wait for my birthday and for March to come so I can surf more.
