It's Been Too Long: A Recap of the Last Few Months

It has been way too long since I have last blogged. So much has happened: surf contests, non-profit work, and celebrations. The last few months have been very busy, but they have taught me many life lessons that will help me survive in this world.

In September, I went to the Outer Banks in North Carolina to compete in the ESA's East Coast Championship competition. I won my round one and round two heats, but I placed third in the final. I am looking forward to competing next year and hope to win!! I also made the ESA Allstar Team for the fourth year in a row! I am very excited to receive the coaching, training, and opportunities that come with being a part of such a great organization and team.

In October, my family's non-profit Every Girl Counts hosted a 5K race in order to raise money for the high school we built and their the upcoming school year. It was very successful and we raised enough money to finish the building for next year's class. Next year we will educate over 50 students (a sophomore class and a new freshman class). I am very excited to return to Kenya over my Spring Break to meet the new students and see the returning students once again. My parents went with a church group over to Kenya during October; the trip was very successful. They were able to lead pastoral training, educate many kids on the Bible, and lead people to Christ. It is all about showing love:)

November was also another busy month; there was so much to do and not enough time. I ran cross country for my school and the season wrapped up the first weekend in November. I enjoyed running with the girls and racing at some pretty courses; I will definitely run cross country next year. I am looking forward to track season in the spring. My youngest sister Celia Tate's birthday is in November. For her 10th birthday, we got annual passes to Disney World. We went for a long weekend and enjoyed being back in Florida where it was warmer. I am excited to be returning to Florida many times next year; hopefully I can squeeze in a surf session when I am down!

As school is winding down and midterms are approaching, procrastination is catching up to me! I have spent many days and nights studying for my midterms and I cannot wait until Christmas Break when I can finally catch up on my Netflix shows!!! I am very excited to celebrate Christmas with my family and have friends over for a New Year's party.

Until next time, save me a wave! (But really, please do. It's been way too long:))
